Drone music

I wrote my music therapy thesis on the therapeutic aspects of the musical drone. I am looking for people who have thoughts on this particular subject or direct experience working with musical drone. One of the aspects that I wrote about was the idea of "getting lost" inside the drone - i.e., a kind of alchemical phenomenon in which the musical drone's containing elements create a kind of support for a person to lose themselves in the music in order to gain more insight through improvising with the drone. Thoughts and ideas are most welcome.
